The purpose of writing congress, requesting information from agencies, and sending information to the court is to be active in the process of government by doing what is supposed to be done by civilians, (one who is adept in civil law) and that is holding those in positions of trust accountable to their duties and obligations. This is a good start.

Overseeing The Delegation of Authority

Congress creates administrative agencies through enabling acts. In these acts, Congress must delegate authority by giving the agency some direction as to what it wants the agency to do. Agencies are usually given broad powers to investigate, set standards (promulgating regulations), and enforce those standards.

Verifying Procedual Due Process

Procedural due process refers to the constitutional requirement that when the federal government acts in such a way that denies a citizen of a life, liberty, or property interest, the person must be given notice, the opportunity to be heard, and a decision by a neutral decision-maker.

Procedural due process is one of two of the components of due process, with the other being substantive due process.

Assisting With A Case

An amicus curiae (lit. 'friend of the court'; pl. amici curiae) is an individual or organization who is not a party to a legal case, but who is permitted to assist a court by offering information, expertise, or insight that has a bearing on the issues in the case. The decision on whether to consider an amicus brief lies within the discretion of the court. The phrase is legal Latin and the origin of the term has been dated back to 1605–1615. The scope of amici curiae is generally found in the cases where broad public interests are involved and concerns regarding civil rights are in question.
